Other Brazilians are still alive in the competition in the Spanish capital. This Friday morning (26), Thiago Wild beat the Italian and number 29 in the ATP rankings, Lorenzo Musetti, by 2 sets to 0 (6/4 and 6/4), and also went to the third round.
Wild’s opponent will be the Spaniard and world number 3, Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko (6/2 and 6/1) 2-0. The duel should take place this Sunday morning (28). Still in the second round, João Fonseca must face the British Cameron Norrie later this Saturday morning (27).
The rain, however, suspended the debut of another Brazilian. Luisa Stefani competes in the women’s doubles tournament alongside Dutch Demi Schuurs. They were beating China’s Zhang Shuai and Poland’s Magda Linette 5/1 in the first set when the duel was interrupted.
Furthermore, the duel for the third round of the women’s singles tournament between Beatriz Haddad Maia and the American Emma Navarro is already delayed due to the storms.
