Italy won 2-0 over Ecuador in a friendly match. Italy’s winning goals were created by Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Barella.
The Ecuador vs Italy match was held at the Red Bull Arena, New Jersey, Monday (25/3/2024) early morning WIB. Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario got the opportunity to make his debut for the Italian national team.
Italy had opened the scoring after three minutes of the game. Lorenzo Pellegrini found the back of the Ecuador goal to give Italy a 1-0 lead.

This goal started from Federico Dimarco’s free kick which hit the Ecuadorian player’s posse. The ball bounced towards Pellegrini and the AS Roma midfielder then fired a hard shot from outside the penalty box.
Ecuador threatened on the counterattack. Barella failed to clear a cross from the right, but Moises Caicedo’s final finish went wide of the goal.
Nicolo Zaniolo’s kick forced Javier Burrai to make a save. Score 1-0 for Italy’s advantage lasted until halftime.
Italy had a chance at the start of the second half. Pellegrini’s free kick was followed by Zaniolo with a header, but the ball went wide.
Italy added a goal in injury time, to be precise in the 90+4 minute. Nicolo Barella broke through Ecuador’s goal after receiving a through ball from Riccardo Orsolini.
This is the second victory achieved by Italy in two test matches in this international break. Previously, Luciano Spalletti’s troops won 2-1 over Venezuela.
