Italy faces Ecuador this Sunday (24) in an international friendly at the Red Bull Arena, in New Jersey (USA). The Italian team is coming off a hard-earned 2-1 victory against Venezuela last Thursday (21). Playing with an alternative team, the Azzurri opened the scoring with Mateo Retegui in a wrong exit from the Venezuelan defense. However, minutes later, the Italian defense also made a mess and Darwin Machís equalized for the Vinotintos.
In the second half, with their main players on the field, Italy managed to win with another goal from Mateo Retegui, after a pass from Jorginho.
Ecuador also comes from a victory, but against Guatemala. Playing at the Red Bull Arena, La Tri beat the Guatemalans 2-0, with goals from John Yeboah and Gonzalo Plata. With this result, the South American team reached their sixth unbeaten game.
In the match in question, defenders Arboleda (São Paulo) and Léo Realpe (RB Bragantino), right-back Andrés Hurtado (RB Bragantino) and midfielders José Cifuentes (Cruzeiro) and Alan Franco (Atlético-MG) participated. Meanwhile, defender Felix Torres (Corinthians) remained on the bench.
After the match, the Ecuadorian team must play at least one more friendly match before their debut in the Copa América, against Venezuela, in the USA. The Italians face Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina before the European Championship, which will take place in Germany.
