Frankfurt had been keeping an eye on the attacker for a long time, but negotiations with PSG were difficult. Immediately before the end of the transfer window, the clubs got down to business. Ekitike is moving to Hesse on loan until the summer. Eintracht also secured a purchase option, but no information was shared about the amount. According to reports, a purchase obligation applies if certain sporting criteria are met. The overall package should be around 20 million euros.
“Hugo is a young player who has already demonstrated his great potential,” said sports director Markus Krösche about the new addition and confirmed that they were “already convinced of him in the summer”. There was no transfer at that time, but the SGE “did not reject the idea”. Now we’re just happy “that the transfer worked given our economic conditions.”

At PSG, the 1.90 meter tall striker was only a noble reserve; in Ligue 1 this season he only played for eight minutes on matchday 1 in the 0-0 draw against Lorient. After two more appointments to the squad, he no longer appeared there from matchday 4 onwards. In total he can look back on 30 games and three goals for PSG.
Wolfsburg was also interested
His contract with the Parisians runs until 2027; the six-time French U-20 international moved from Stade Reims to the top French club in the summer of 2022 for almost 30 million euros. Now he is moving to Eintracht in the Bundesliga, where he will wear the number 11 shirt in the coming weeks and months.
VfL Wolfsburg had also temporarily shown interest in Ekitike. After just one conversation, it was clear that the 21-year-old’s financial ideas and Wolfsburg’s options would not match.
For Frankfurt it is the fourth winter newcomer and already the third striker. The Hessians had previously signed Donny van de Beek (midfield, Manchester United), Sasa Kalajdzic (attack, Wolverhampton Wanderers, loan) and Jean-Matteo Bahoya (attack, Angers SCO).
