Policy: Both the boat with the refugees and a boat that came to rescue them capsized on Thursday.
The rescue operation ended on Friday, after 75 refugees had been rescued. Probably around 150 people were on board. Many of them clung to the hull of the wrecked boat.
The Rohingya minority is persecuted in its homeland Myanmar, and many thousands attempt long, expensive and dangerous sea journeys, often on fragile and sinking boats, to get to Malaysia or Indonesia.
