LONDON – July 2021 was called the hottest month ever recorded on Earth. Earlier this week, UN scientists had launched the SOS on weather: to avoid the catastrophe, the now inevitable rise in temperature of 1.5 degrees must be delayed as much as possible, at least until 2050, drastically and immediately reducing emissions. Yet, among negotiators, there is a growing fear that the Cop26, the UN climate summit to be held in November in Glasgow, may prove to be a half failure.
