Young star from Palmeiras scores at the beginning of the second half and the club is in contention for the competition’s third title against Santos

The dream of a third São Paulo championship is still alive at Palmeiras. On the night of this Thursday, the 28th, Alviverde beat Novorizontino 1-0, at Allianz Parque and, therefore, will face Santos in the final. The winning goal was from Endrick, who arrived from Europe, where he shone for the Brazilian team at Data Fifa, and put Verdão in their fifth consecutive final of the competition.
The first game of the decision, therefore, takes place on Sunday (31), at a time yet to be defined. Novorizontino, in turn, will only return to the field on April 19, when they debut in Série B of the Brazilian Championship, against CRB.
Palmeiras struggles in the first half
After a brief period of study, Novorizontino almost opened the score with two moves practically in succession. In the first, at 12 minutes, Reverson shot from outside the area and Weverton saved. On the rebound, Rômulo finished and the defense cut it. At 13, Neto Pessoa gave a great header and the Palmeiras goalkeeper saved it. Tigre was better and, at 17, Rômulo, free, shot from the edge of the area and narrowly missed the target.
The domain belonged to the visitors. So much so that they had another great opportunity at 25, when Reverson caught a rebound of a ball cut by the defense and hit hard, but wide. As time passed, Palmeiras balanced their actions, but did not create any chance of opening the scoring.
Endrick decides in the Second Half
Boxed in between the three defenders in the first half, Endrick barely touched the ball. Right at the beginning of the second, however, the attacker caught the first ball facing the goal. And he made Palmeiras 1-0, at 7, after catching the remains of a challenge from Flaco López at the top.
The second almost came at 19, when Anibal Moreno took a risk from outside the area and goalkeeper Jordi went for it in the corner. Tigre, after all, was in danger in the 25th minute. Neto Pessoa tried to complete a cross and Marcos Rocha avoided the equalizer.
Without Endrick, substituted with pain in his right thigh, Palmeiras undeniably dropped in production. Therefore, Novorizontino began to dominate the actions more and seek the equalizer. However, without the same momentum, they were unable to achieve equality on the scoreboard.
