ESC 2024: Isaak represents Germany in Malmö

As of: February 17, 2024 1:40 p.m

From the casting formats “X Factor” and “Show your Talent” to the ESC 2024 in Malmö: Isaak has fulfilled his final dream. In “Always On The Run” the 28-year-old sings about the contrasts in life.

Light and shadow, joy and sadness, self-doubt and self-confidence: these opposites are what Isaak’s song is about, with which he won the preliminary round “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Final 2024”. In “Always On The Run” he reflects on these contradictions and transforms them into music. The mix between powerful sound and quiet moments underlines Isaak’s ambivalent world of thoughts.

Further information

Isaak won the preliminary decision. With the song “Always On The Run” he will represent Germany at the ESC 2024 in Malmö in May. more

“Music is the only refuge where I can be who I am. Everything is allowed here. No drawers, no system, no order. Pure emotions, a playground that is not just for children. And everyone can understand it – whether it is in his language or not.” Isaac

Isaak “started with no expectations”

“Let’s see how far it goes!”, Isaak posted on his Instagram account in January. A month later it is clear – the 28-year-old is traveling to Malmö for Germany. After his victory in the German preliminary round, the singer still seems a bit disbelieving – he started with no expectations. Probably the right attitude to sing big without pressure. The 28-year-old said in advance that he had hidden all analyzes and all speculation on the Internet in advance. And it pays off for him: Isaak leaves the previous favorites Ryk and Max Mutzke behind – and is the unanimous winner of the jury and audience.

“I want to give 100 percent and aim for first place”

Isaak wants to stay true to himself at the ESC in Malmö – and would rather appear in a hoodie than a sequin suit.

Now the man from East Westphalia is off to Malmö with his life’s motto “First come in and then look”: “I’m at full speed at the start, motivated from the tips of my toes to the top of my hair.” He wants to give 100 percent and is aiming for first place. But he wants to stay completely with himself. And if he is enthusiastic himself, he will also inspire others. But Isaak also makes it clear: “I don’t dance.” He is open to criticism, which he sees as food for thought. The 28-year-old with the powerful, raspy voice appears down-to-earth and authentic ahead of the final on May 11th.

Isaak will remain the “man with the microphone” there; lighting effects and pyrotechnics will accompany his appearance. But: Issak doesn’t like sequins. He wants to wear an outfit that he feels comfortable in and that reflects him.

Casting formats as a springboard into the music business

Isaak Guderian was already doing street music while he was at school and appeared to the general public for the first time in 2011 in the casting show “X Factor”. At the age of 18 he started his own business as a singer and performed at festivals and events. In 2021 he won the digital talent show “Show your Talent”. Isaak has now built up a considerable audience. His vocal repertoire ranges from melancholic ballads to powerful arrangements. Participation in the ESC final will certainly be a springboard for Issak’s career.

Preferably with my wife and sons to Malmö

The father of two would like to take his entire family with him to Sweden. Their names could be a good omen for Malmö: Isaak’s wife is called Loreen, like the Swedish winner from last year. And Isaac, his biblical name, means something like “God laughs.” In the end, it may be the 28-year-old who has the last laugh – and the best laugh.
