Ex-“Asked – Hunted” hunter about the funeral service for Klaus Otto Nagorsnik (†68)

On April 24th ARD announced that Klaus Otto Nagorsnik, the hunter known as the “librarian” on the ARD evening quiz show “Gefragt – Gejagt”, died unexpectedly at the age of 68. “His missions on the Jägerstuhl were celebrations for him, which gave him the chance to fully exploit his wealth of knowledge, but also his Westphalian humor and charm. We are losing a fine person with a great sense of justice,” said the hunters of the quiz elite about the death of their colleague.

They now officially said goodbye to him. Ex-hunter Holger Waldenberger wrote on Twitter: “About 80 people were at Klaus Otto’s funeral service, including all the hunters and Alexander Bommes.” Waldenberger continued: “It was perhaps a touch too formal, but I think he would have liked it.”

Ex-colleague Waldenberger moved by the funeral service

In his tweet, Waldenberger also spoke about his personal impression of the funeral service: “The speeches and the music didn’t affect me that much, but next to the urn there was the same large picture hanging in the chapel, which made me cry several times. When you see the many people to whom he meant something, it’s also comforting.”

Holger Waldenberger was the first “hunter” when NDR adapted the British quiz format “The Chase” in 2012. In April 2017, Waldenberger, known as “The Giant”, announced his departure from “Gefragt – Gejagt”.

In 2014, Klaus Otto Nagorsnik joined the ARD pre-evening quiz, where he became a crowd favorite under his nickname “The Librarian” (he worked as a librarian in the Münster city library until his retirement) and, always in a suit and bow tie, regularly pushed the candidates to their limits Quiz knowledge brought.

Alexander Bommes talks about the day of Nagorsnik’s death

In the NDR talk show on Friday, “Gefragt – Gejagt” presenter Alexander Bommes also spoke about the circumstances of Nagorsnik’s death: “That was in the middle of a production week. Klaus Otto didn’t show up at the hotel that evening and would have been there the next day. According to the neighbors, he fell asleep in his apartment, luckily with loud music and crazy anticipation of Hamburg. […] The team still had four days of filming ahead of them. Together they would have thought about how to move on after the shock. “Then we came together, were silent for him, then clapped for him, that’s what he would have wanted. Then we continued for him too, but that was brutal.”

The pre-produced episodes of the new season of “Gefragt-Gejagt” with Klaus Otto Nagorsnik will be shown on Das Erste from May 13, 2024 in memory of him.
