Fabiola Andrade remembers her last days with her husband who suffered from cancer

“He was incredibly proud of me, he was a guy who always threw me up. It didn’t matter if it was an under-17 game that I was commentating on, Edu would find a way to turn on the TV in his office and tell me photos. When he went to games at night, he wouldn’t go to bed until I arrived. And as soon as he got home, he said: ‘You did great, but look, you can still improve at this here’. , commented the journalist.

“It was a big impact for me when he got sick at home and didn’t come back. That was one of the infinite pains. I would get home from work and find it hard to believe that he wasn’t here anymore. There was a specific day when I went to Santos , play a game in Vila Belmiro, and when I came back, I looked at this house and said: ‘I can’t believe he’s not here, I can’t believe it’.”, described an emotional Fabiola.

The diagnosis

When Fabiola asked Eduardo to leave the office and return home, that Monday, October 31, 2022, she was already terrified. The journalist called her daughter’s father — who became a great friend — and asked for help.

“He contacted Giovana’s uncle (Fabiola’s daughter), Christian Felizola, who is a cardiologist and was an angel in our lives. When I arrived at the hospital with Edu, Christian had already asked the doctor on duty to request a tomography. And then I started to find everything very strange, because the doctor came back with results and asked if Edu already had a doctor”, said Fabíola.

The journalist asked what was happening and the doctor preferred to talk to another colleague first. “I still thought it was a stroke. I’m optimistic by nature. I thought it was a stroke, but I saw Edu fine, walking. Well, in my head, they would soon operate and resolve it,” he continued.
