Fanny Smith was injured on Thursday morning during training on the World Cup course in Alleghe. During a fall in which she slipped on the inner ski, she twisted her left leg. The 31-year-old from Vaud also tore a ligament in her right thumb, as investigations have shown. “The knee is fine,” Smith wrote on Instagram on Friday morning. However, how to proceed with the torn ligament in the thumb and the pain in the foot is currently being clarified with the team doctors. She was transferred to Zurich for further examinations.
On Tuesday afternoon, Margaux Dumont fell during training and hit her head. Due to clarifications and as a precautionary measure, as this is not Dumont’s first such injury, it was decided together with team doctor Harald Leemann that last year’s overall European Cup winner would not compete in the World Cup races in Italy or would abandon them after the start.
