They were at the summit. There is no doubt about that. Five years ago, the two Tyrolean extreme mountaineers David Lama and Hansjörg Auer as well as the American Jess Roskelley climbed the 3,295 meter high Howse Peak in the Rocky Mountains via a difficult route on the east side. It took the trio less than seven hours to climb the King Line. The details could be reconstructed thanks to the smartphones carried. An avalanche occurred while descending the east face. Five days later, the bodies of the three alpinists were found with the help of avalanche dogs. They had no chance.
