In September 2024, 36 years after the release of the cult film, a remake will be released in cinemas.
As early as 2014, rumors about a remake of the 1988 horror comedy were circulating online. A whole decade later, director Tim Burton makes it official: “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will be released in German cinemas on September 5th, 2024.
Original cast meets new faces
As seen in the trailer, original Beetlejuice Michael Keaton reprises the role of Poltergeist. The 72-year-old revealed to “Men’s Health”: “Year after year I discussed things with Tim [Burton]. We said ‘Should we? Or should we not?’ Then it was a no, then a yes, then a no.” Ultimately, other actors from the original cast were also happy that the two agreed on a “yes”. Winona Ryder can be seen again as Lydia Deetz. Catherine O’Hara, who played her mother in the fantasy horror comedy 36 years ago, also appears in the new trailer.
But new faces also cause surprises in the clip. “Wednesday” actress Jenna Ortega is part of the cast. Beetlejuice’s wife is played by ex-Bond girl Monica Bellucci.

The film will be released in cinemas in Germany on September 5th, 2024. This means the film can be seen here a day earlier than in US cinemas. Tim Burton has named September 6th as the start date for this on Instagram.
