As every year, Iruña-Pamplona hosts the performances of a large number of established artists and emerging figures of Flamenco in the tenth edition of the Flamenco On Fire.
The Navarre festival Flamenco On Fire will once again fill different spaces in the foral community with flamenco during the month of August. The great concerts and those held on the S.XXI Stage will be led by artists of the stature of Miguel Poveda, Estrella Morente, Farruquito, Antonio Reyes y Rosario ‘La Tremendita’, Tomatito, Soleá Morente, La Plazuela y Tomasito, among others. Nor will there be an extensive program in emblematic spaces (the night balcony of the Government of Navarra, the town halls of Viana, Tudela and Iruña, Palacio de Ezpeleta…) where figures such as Antonio Reyes, Vicente Soto Deafness, Tomatito, Manolo Franco, Guadiana, Potito, Pepe Habichuela o Luis El Zamboamong other.
This year the guitar will take center stage through the “alzapúa” concept, a technical characteristic of flamenco playing that uses the thumb to hit the strings. Alzapúa will be a gateway to the instrument and to the work of Sabicas, so present since the beginning of the festival, as well as to the rest of artistic figures and disciplines that the festival wants to add to its anniversary.
The celebration of the tenth anniversary is added to the centenary of Lola Flores, Fernanda de Utrera and Rafael Farina. The commemoration of the 75th birthday of Paco de Lucía and 50 since the publication of the emblematic album “Source and Flow”. And also 50 of the death of Manolo Caracol and 60 of the first album by José Menese.
To the extensive programming that you can see below, we must add the cycle ON FIRE Cinewith 5 screenings at Civox Constable from August 23 to 27 at 6:00 p.m.: “My God, what joy these people have, what fatigue I have. Root Flamenco”, “Silence”, “Menese”, “The lightning that does not stop : Juan Moneo “El Torta”” and “Paco de Lucía: The Search.”
