Flekkefjord, Police in Agder | Woman pulled from the water in Flekkefjord died – man still missing

In an update at 2.16am on Monday, the police in Agder state that the woman in her 20s has been declared dead. The next of kin have been notified.

Operations manager Tom Einar Gausdal states that the search operation for the missing man has ended without any findings. All resources, except the Coast Guard, have left the scene. KV Sortland is still in the water and searching the area with an ROV.

The first reports about the people lying in the water came to the police in Agder on Sunday at 17:59. Roughly half an hour later, the first rescue resource was at the scene of the accident, operation manager Øyvind Hægeland tells NTB.

Both are foreign nationals living in Norway, confirms Hægeland.

Brufjellhålene is a popular hiking destination along the coast on the border between Agder and Rogaland. It is described as demanding and difficult.

– It is a steep mountainside, and it is not just about getting to the water from the mountainside. It is a demanding terrain, both to walk in and search in, says Hægeland to VG.
