The partial human remains that were found Wednesday in Florida belong to Brian Laundrie, boyfriend of Gabby Petito, the girl found dead strangled last month after a trip the two were making together to the west of the United States. This was announced by the FBI, who on Wednesday also found some objects belonging to the boy, a notebook and a backpack, not far from the body.
“On October 21, 2021, a comparison of dental records confirmed that the human remains found at T. Mabry Carlton, Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park are those of Brian Laundrie,” tweeted the FBI.

The human remains, initially unidentified, were found during the search for the boy, who disappeared for over a month after leaving home with only a backpack, without wallet and cell phone. Laundrie was considered a key subject in resolving the case on the death of 23-year-old influencer Gabby Petito.
Two weeks after returning home alone after the trip, Laundrie disappeared into thin air on September 14. His parents, however, had reported his disappearance only three days later. In late September, Laundrie was then accused in his absence of using a credit card and someone’s personal identification number to make unauthorized withdrawals or debits worth more than a thousand dollars.
Petito’s body was found in a remote part of Wyoming in late September.
