Fortaleza and Ceará draw goalless in the first Cearense final

Fortaleza and Ceará did not come from scratch in the first game of the Cearense Championship final, played this Saturday (30), at Arena Castelão.

Although coach Vagner Mancini’s team had more time in possession of the ball, the best opportunity in the first half came from Tricolor, with Moisés, but Matheus Bahia managed to clear it over the line.

In the final stage, the dynamics were similar to the first 45 minutes, with Ceará dominating possession. At 28, Saulo Mineiro came face to face with João Ricardo, but finished over the goalkeeper, who made a good save again at 32, with a shot from outside the area by Erick Pulga.

With this Saturday’s draw, Fortaleza completed its fourth consecutive match without winning this season. On Wednesday (3), Tricolor debuts in the Copa Sudamericana, against Sportivo Trinidense, in Paraguay. Ceará are the current runners-up in the continental tournament.

In the State Championship, Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men are looking for an unprecedented sixth championship. Ceará, in addition to interrupting its rival’s streak, is aiming for its first victory since 2018.

The teams will face each other again in the Cearense Championship decision next Saturday (6), at 4:40 pm, also at Arena Castelão.
