Four earthquakes in Cusco: residents ask the Andahuaylillas authorities for help

Four earthquakes shook today, April 30, in Andahuaylillas, Quispicanchi, in Cusco. The strongest tremor was recorded at 5:09 a.m. and was 4.4 magnitude. This has generated great concern among the population, who have decided not to return to their homes and remain in the main square due to fear that their homes will collapse with another earthquake.

Although the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) has recorded three more earthquakes between 6:59 a.m., 7:06 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., which have not reached 4.00 in magnitude, the residents assure that the earth continues to move . They have felt constant aftershocks. They ask the municipal authorities to give them tents to spend the night.

“I have been in the park since 5:00 in the morning. My house has cracked the walls. Those of us who have businesses, things are on the floor, everything scattered. We are afraid that there will be a stronger one and everything will fall on top of us.” “We have gone out with our children,” said a neighbor from Andahuaylillas.

The residents ask the authorities for support. “Our houses are uninhabitable. The walls and ceilings have fallen. We asked for tents because it is impossible to return. Last week there was a series of earthquakes and now, again, the earth moved,” another neighbor told TVPerú Noticoas.

Likewise, she requested psychologists for her children. “They are traumatized by the constant shaking,” she added.
