A series of bans on the display of Nazi symbols or symbols associated with Islamic terrorist groups came into force on Monday in Australia: the bans, announced in June and approved in December also due to an increase in incidents of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and violence, they tighten some rules already in force at federal level. Up to 12 months in prison are foreseen for those who publicly perform the Nazi salute, display symbols such as the swastika or the runic symbols of the SS (the paramilitary group of the Nazi regime), or sell or trade them in any form. Among the groups considered terrorist affected by the new bans are the Islamic State, Hamas and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
From today in Australia it is forbidden to display and trade Nazi symbols or symbols linked to Islamist terrorist groups
