From Ukraine to the Chamber but without a speaker, Odg jumps on military spending

ROME. The Bureau of the Senate Defense and Foreign Committees has begun to establish the continuation of work on the Ukraine decree. The scheduled session of the two committees was canceled because the opinions on the amendments did not arrive from the Budget Committee. Therefore, the provision, which is expected in the Assembly of Palazzo Madama at 18, could go to the Chamber without the mandate to the speaker in the form approved by the Chamber, explained the same speaker in the commission Maurizio Gasparri, entering the chamber of the Defense commission.

The Ukrainian law decree, therefore, will almost certainly arrive in the Senate without a speaker. This means that the amendments and the agendas presented in the committee, including the one presented by the FDI on the increase in military spending, fall. This is what emerged from the bureau of the joint foreign and defense commissions. The committees were unable to vote on amendments and Odg as the opinions of the Budget Committee did not arrive. This prevents them from being voted in the classroom, where the session is scheduled for 6 pm. Unless the Budget Committee does not express itself at the last minute – which appears unlikely – the vote will be on the text approved by the House. A situation that suits the 5Stelle because it “cancels” the work of the commissions in Palazzo Madama, including the agenda of FdI, which commits to a military expenditure of 2%, accepted yesterday by the government. Only in this way, according to sources, M5s would be willing to vote on a possible trust that the government might decide to place tomorrow.
