Prince Philip died, the husband of Queen Elizabeth whom he had moved in November 20, 1947 and with whom he had four children: Carlo, Anna, Andrea and Edoardo.
He would have turned 100 in June.
Recently discharged after a few weeks in hospital in London due to an unspecified infection – not related to Covid – which had been added to heart problems. This was announced by the queen in a note released by Buckingham in which the sovereign expresses “deep sadness” for the loss of “her beloved husband”. A stainless landmark of the British court for decades, as consort of the sovereign he joined the queen on her official travels in the Commonwealth and around the world, appearing frequently in the public eye.
She is the longest-lived spouse of a British monarch: in fact, on April 19, 2009, with 62 years and 71 days of marriage, she overtook even the queen consort Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, wife of King George III.
