German media: Afghan customs revenue plummeted by nearly 40% when the Taliban occupy multiple border ports

According to the Kabul/Islamabad report of the German News Agency, the Afghan Ministry of Finance stated that after Taliban fighters recently occupied important border crossings in many provinces of Afghanistan, Afghan customs revenues have dropped by nearly 40%.
Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson Rafi Tabi said on Tuesday local time that in the third month of the Afghan calendar, government revenue was approximately US$91.25 million, and that from June 22 to July 22, the revenue was reduced to 57.5 million US dollars. It lost more than 33 million U.S. dollars in one month.
According to reports, in the past month, the Afghan government has lost control of 7 border ports in 6 provinces of Afghanistan, including the largest trade gateway, Islamabad Port. These ports are located on the country’s borders with Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
