A 4-year-old girl was stabbed by a 34-year-old man in a supermarket in southern Germany and taken to hospital with serious injuries. Dpa reports this, citing the local police and adding that the reasons for the attack are unclear. The attacker was arrested without offering resistance, while the victim underwent surgery and remains hospitalized in serious condition. The attack took place in Wangen im Allgäu in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The police explained that they will provide further information on the matter in the coming hours. The attacker was apparently disarmed by a man who was inside the supermarket and who raised the alarm.
