Girona managed to secure a 4-1 victory over Cadiz in Week 32 of La Liga at the Montilivi Stadium on Sunday (21/4) early morning WIB. The four goals were scored by Eric Garcia, Ivan Martin, Artem Dovbyk and Cristian Portu. Meanwhile Cadiz’s consolation goal was scored by Gonzalo Escalante.

This victory made Girona continue to overshadow Barcelona. Currently, Girona sits in third place with 68 points. They are only two points behind the Blaugrana in second place.

Girona is also getting stronger in their efforts to secure a Champions League ticket next season. On the other hand, Cadiz is increasingly falling into the abyss of relegation after only collecting 25 points from 32 matches.

The course of the match

Girona immediately dominated from the start of the match. The hosts were able to open the scoring through Eric Garcia’s goal in the 10th minute. The goal was created from Garcia’s header after utilizing Savinho’s cross.

In the 23rd minute, Girona doubled their lead through Ivan Martin’s beautiful goal. The score was 2-0.

In the second half, Girona played more aggressively. They managed to increase their lead through Dovbyk’s goal in the 71st minute. The goal started with Gutierrez’s pass to Dovbyk who put the ball into the net.

Cadiz had time to reduce the position through Escalante’s goal in the 82nd minute. However, Girona pulled away again a minute later. Portu scored a goal back for Girona after capitalizing on a Cadiz back line error. Girona vs Cadiz ended 4-1. (Ant/Z-11)
