AKERSGATA, OSLO/ HUELVA, SPAIN (Nettavisen): The news came on Monday that Gjert Ingebrigtsen has been charged with abuse in close relationships. The victim is one of his seven children, but is not supposed to be one of the well-known brothers Jakob, Henrik or Filip.

The latter will try to qualify for the Olympics in Huelva, Spain on Tuesday. It will also be Narve Gilje Nordås, who is still coached by Ingebrigtsen. The latter will run 5000, while Filip will run 1500.

The coach himself is in Spain, but it is uncertain whether he will actually be seen during the competitions on Tuesday evening. His lawyer John Christian Elden says the following to Nettavisen:

“He is in Spain doing his job. I don’t know what his plans are for the evening.”

In addition to Gilje Nordås and Ingebrigtsen, Per Svela will also run on Tuesday. He is also one of the runners Ingebrigtsen still coaches.

Recently, the runners, together with the coach, have been on a high-altitude stay in the Sierra Nevada. It is close to five hours’ drive from Huelva.

When Nettavisen spoke to Gilje Nordås a few weeks ago, he was between high altitude stays in Spain. He then described the form as much better than at the same time last year. On Tuesday evening, he runs 5,000 metres, where the Olympic requirement is 13:05.

Ingebrigtsen herself has been tight-lipped lately, but posted a post on Instagram on Tuesday morning.

There he shared a text taken from the Andra Day song “Rise up” from 2015, and the song itself is also played together with the post, where Ingebrigtsen indicates that he wants to rise again.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen later deleted the Instagram post.
