LONDON. Cressida Dick, the first female commander in the history of Scotland Yard, the London police department with national expertise on some important investigative files, announced her resignation tonight. This is a surprise gesture, following the controversy of a series of scandals involving her body. Just yesterday the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, had sent her some sort of ultimatum.

The scandal of the party in which Prime Minister Johnson took part in the middle of the pandemic certainly weighs to the extreme consequence. Scotland Yard had in fact asked Sue Gray, the government official investigating the partygate, to water down her report, deleting names and circumstances subject to police investigations until they are finished.

Only 5% of burglaries were solved by the police last year with the arrest of the perpetrators and in many cases not even investigated. In some areas of England and Wales only one in 30 offenders go to court and trust in the mythical British police is now at its lowest ebb.
