Grendizer, Tokusatsu, historical acronyms and censorship: we will talk and get excited at Torino Comics.

Torino Comics celebrates 30 years and for this reason, the initiatives to pay homage to one of the longest-running fairs in Italy are countless with events, guests, workshops and meetings.

Among the most anticipated events, there are speeches by guests familiar with the manga and anime scene which will take place in the Blue Room in Pavilion 2. It will begin on Friday 12th with “Curiosities from the World of Acronyms 1978-1984″ at 5.00 pm, with Historian Enzo Tripodina: “The story of the golden season of cartoon theme songs on TV”, from Heidi to Grendizer, with the support of the theme songs and 45s that made history. Between Fonit Cetra and RCA, from Vince Tempera to Douglas Maekin, from the Knights of the King to the Superobots, passing through Detto Mariano and Vito Tommaso.

A journey back in time, to rediscover acronyms that have made history and sometimes decreed the success of an Anime, an opportunity to rediscover melodies that have kept us company for entire afternoons but also to discover anecdotes and curiosities that will leave the visitor enraptured.

On Saturday 13th at 3.00 pm, the author Massimo Nicora will lead us to know and explore a timeless myth, namely Grendizer with “Atlas Ufo Robot – The Mysteries of the TV series”, through the pages of his essay “There was once Grendizer”, a work capable of unraveling many doubts and revealing truths hidden by urban legends. An appointment that will lead us to that fateful April 4th 1978, the date that changed the concept of cartoons forever.

On Sunday 14th at 12:00, the Editor-in-Chief of Mondo Japan Fabio “Jubei” Valerio and the pop culture historian Marco Lupani, will immerse visitors in an artistic-social study: “Between Anime and Tokusatsu: the Golden Age”. The legendary live series (Megaloman, Ultraman, Kamen Rider…) will be examined and remembered. In all this we will talk about the censorship in Anime at the end of the 80s which destroyed and distorted countless successful works from “George” to Quasi Magia Johnny; the behind the scenes that no one has ever wanted to tell.
