Six Nuns Kidnapped in Haiti
A group of unidentified armed men kidnapped six nuns in an assault that occurred early Friday in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, as confirmed by the Haitian Conference of Religious. Along with the nuns, the driver of the vehicle in which they were traveling, as well as a teacher, have also been kidnapped, according to the organization. They all belonged to the Congregation of Sisters of Saint Anne and were traveling on a bus on their way to do charity work.

“These kidnappings fill the souls of Haitians with sadness and fear,” the conference denounced in its statement, reported by the ‘Gazette Haiti’ portal. “In this very painful moment, we invite all Christians in Haiti to form a chain to pray for them,” they added.

Kidnappings like this have become the norm in the country’s capital, devastated by the violence of criminal gangs in the face of the impotence of the Government and waiting for the deployment of more than a thousand Kenyan agents to begin to intervene within the framework of an international peace mission led by Nairobi, after reaching an agreement to contribute to the fight against crime.
