Circa the goal of the 64.7 million votes obtained from Vladimir Putin in the elections of March 15, 16 and 17 would be false: a fraud of record size in the history of presidential consultations in Russia. The independent newspaper supports it Novaya Gazeta Europewho analyzed the official numbers on the basis of a method – developed by the mathematician Sergei Shpilkin – to identify the consensus “drug addicts“. The starting point is the (presumed) record participation in the vote: according to the Central Election Commission in Moscow, those who went to the polls were 74.5 million Russians, over 73% of those entitled. And the87% of them voted to reappoint the current head of the Kremlin. However, if we compare the turnout in the individual polling stations with the respective results, an inconsistency stands out: where it appears that more people voted, the greater number of votes it is not distributed proportionally among the candidates, but Putin’s advantage over his challengers skyrockets. In short, second Novaya Gazeta it’s about inflated consensus by filling blank ballots and falsifying election minutes: the estimated size of the phenomenon would reach i 31.6 million votes, that is, almost 50% of those attributed to Putin. Although, specifies the newspaper, “there have been so many falsifications that it is almost impossible identify the area of real votes using statistical methods”.

On the other hand – if we exclude the Italian deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini – almost no one has any doubts that last weekend’s vote was rigged as much and more than usual. “The result was predictable, because there are no real elections in Russia. This is a kind of test of the next five years of Putin’s presidency,” he tells the agency LaPresse Ilya Politkovsky, son of Anna Politkovskayajournalist of the Novaya Gazeta killed in 2006 in Moscow for her reporting against the regime. “I’m very proud that there were a lot of people who went outside the polls at 12pm yesterday to protest, because they demonstrate that they do not support the current Russian regime”, he adds, in reference to the demonstrations encouraged by the killed dissident Alexei Navalny. “It’s good that these people came out and showed that they were numerous. Especially in Italy, in Bologna, Milan and Rome, there were very long queues. Russian propaganda says that they are people who wanted to vote, but that’s not true, they wanted to protest,” she says.
