Heavy RAIN and SNOW also in the next few hours, the Civil Protection ALERT goes off

Bad weather and weather warning for the next few hours

Bad weather in the next few hours with heavy rain, snowfall in the mountains and with the inevitable and consequent alert from the Civil Protection.

A phase of bad weather has already been hitting some regions of our country for 24 hours and in the next few hours it has every intention of gaining ground and further extending its influence to the rest of Italy.
Responsible for this evident turning point on the meteorological front is a cyclonic vortex currently located in the upper Tyrrhenian Sea and destined to travel towards the southern regions.

It therefore seems clear that in the next few hours the atmospheric picture will be far from calm.
In the morning, the most severe weather conditions will hit Northern Italy, initially affecting the central-western sector, and then gradually moving towards the Northeast as the hours pass. In fact, between the afternoon and evening, the focus of the bad weather will move to the easternmost area, bringing improvements on the western front of the country. It is important to pay particular attention to the intense rainfall and heavy snowfall, which is expected in the eastern Alpine mountains, with snow levels around 800/900 metres, during the afternoon and evening.

Even the central regions will not be spared, with significant rainfall expected especially along the Tyrrhenian coast and significant snowfall on the Apennine chains, at altitudes of between 1400 and 1500 metres.
In the South, the atmospheric conditions will be largely calmer and drier, with the arrival of clouds and rain only towards the evening, destined to mainly affect the lower Tyrrhenian area and therefore the regions of Campania, Calabria and Sicily.

Civil Protection alert.
On the basis of the expected phenomena, an orange alert for hydrogeological risk has been assessed for Friday 23 February in part of Lombardy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, yellow alert in the remaining sectors of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, some sectors of Veneto, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, on the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano on the entire territory of Umbria, Lazio, Molise and a large part of Abruzzo.

The meteorological and critical situation forecast for Italy is updated daily based on new forecasts and the evolution of the phenomena, and is available on the website of the Department of Civil Protection (http://www.protezionecivile.gov.it/), together with the general rules of conduct to be followed in case of bad weather.
