The use of technology in police activities in Chihuahua has led to a significant decrease in crime rates, especially in home robbery, business robbery, car robbery, and commercial robbery. The implementation of the Chihuahua Shield Platform (Pecuu) in 2018 has played a crucial role in improving virtual surveillance in the city and providing video-recorded material for investigations.

With over 1,500 cameras installed in strategic points, as well as drones and helicopters, the police force is able to effectively monitor and track criminal activities. The versatility and ease of use of these devices have allowed for safer and more efficient operations, such as tracking vehicles or people in pursuits over long distances and conducting search and rescue missions in difficult terrains.

The drones have proven to be particularly useful in minimizing risks for police personnel during high-impact events and can also patrol rural communities, sporting events, and bodies of water. The Air Operations Unit of the Public Security Directorate has five licensed drone pilots who are certified by the Federal Civil Aviation Agency, ensuring safe and proficient operation of the devices.

Since March 2018, the drones have been instrumental in carrying out hundreds of operations and rescues, as well as over a thousand interventions, thanks to their thermal cameras that allow for efficient location of people or objects both day and night. These drones have a flight autonomy of up to 50 minutes and an attack radius distance of 10 to 15 kilometers, making them a valuable asset in enhancing public safety in Chihuahua.
