(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Hong Kong adds 5 imported cases and 30 relevant premises are included in the mandatory inspection announcement

China News Service, Hong Kong, November 10 (Wei Huadu and Han Xingtong) Hong Kong added 5 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia on the 10th, all of which were imported cases. Among them, 4 cases had contact with the community. For this reason, the SAR government included 30 relevant premises in the mandatory testing announcement.

Ou Jiarong, chief physician of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said that the five new confirmed cases involved 3 men and 2 women, aged between 15 and 57. So far, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong has increased to 12,374.

Three of the confirmed cases involved crew members, including two local foreign crew members and one non-local crew member. The two local crew members belonged to Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong, and both had been vaccinated with two doses of the new crown vaccine, aged 57 and 29 years old. They arrived in Hong Kong by the same freighter from Frankfurt, Germany on November 6th. After arriving in Hong Kong, they were tested negative at the airport and then returned home. They were accepted again on the 3rd day (i.e. 8th) after arrival. A confirmed diagnosis was found during testing.

Ou Ka Wing revealed that the 57-year-old male patient lives in a single house in Discovery Bay with his family and foreign domestic helpers. They are all listed as close contacts. The patient’s wife is a teacher at the Discovery Bay International School and his two sons are in the school. For the sake of prudence, all close contacts of the household contacts of the case must be quarantined for 3 days at the quarantine center, including about 120 students from the Discovery Bay International School.

The 29-year-old male patient lives in Tsim Sha Tsui with a friend. The case involves 60 close contacts and must be admitted to a quarantine center for isolation. On the evening of the 9th, the SAR government has carried out a “closed area” forced inspection of the building where he lives. A total of 345 residents have been tested and no one has been diagnosed.

Ou Jiarong said that the two confirmed local crew members have high viral load and are believed to have been recently infected. Among them, the 57-year-old man may have been infected during his stay in Germany. The Public Health Laboratory Service Branch of the Centre for Health Protection will perform genetic sequencing on the two cases.

In addition, two cases were confirmed after the hotel quarantine was completed, involving a 30-year-old foreign domestic helper and a 15-year-old woman who had undergone 6 tests during the quarantine period, and the results were all negative. Antibodies were detected after both of them were admitted to the hospital, which is believed to be a case of “Fuyang”.

Among them, the confirmed domestic helper arrived in Hong Kong on October 17 and was quarantined at a quarantine hotel in Tsuen Wan. After completing the quarantine on November 7, she stayed in another non-quarantine hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui under the arrangement of her employer and went to a private clinic The test found a confirmed diagnosis. As for the 15-year-old woman, she and her family arrived in Hong Kong from Italy on October 14 and were quarantined at a hotel in Causeway Bay until November 4. After completing the quarantine, she checked into a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, and was compulsory on the 26th day after arrival in Hong Kong. Confirmed at the time of testing.
