Yesterday 25 April, I spent 45 minutes from Blomsterkroken on Jeløya to Sydskogen! I have read with interest Noralf Olsen’s post about the canal bridge today. What he writes is absolutely correct. It is not difficult to reinforce the bridge and the price for carrying out this work will be reasonable compared to a new bridge.
I have thoroughly checked and dimensioned the reinforcements of the canal bridge. I have calculated that it is enough to use approx. 12 tonnes of steel reinforcements in the form of strong H-beams, construction pipes and steel plates. In my approach, I have chosen a different static model than the one the current bridge is designed according to. Therefore, it is easy to reinforce the bridge!
To implement this proposal, the main beams must be reinforced with a strong H-profile, namely HEB 500 at the bottom and 2 hollow profiles 300*200*6 mm at the top of the main beam. A positive consequence of this proposal is that the reinforcement of the main beams can be carried out from the underside from a raft, so that the work does not disturb the traffic on the bridge. The essential thing is to maintain four lanes, so that traffic does not stand still in Helgerødgaten.
