Public healthcare institutions in the Republika Srpska owe the Pension Insurance Fund /PIO/ 174 million KM, which ranks them among the biggest debtors, followed by private companies with a debt of 120 million KM, the director of the Fund, Mladen Milić, said today.

Milić stated that companies in bankruptcy or liquidation proceedings they owe 89 millionas well as the fact that independent entrepreneurs and artisans still have an enormously high debt, almost 92 million KM.

At the press conference where the report on last year’s work was presented, Milić stated that in 2023 they had the highest income so far based on contributions from 1.362 billion KM.

“That is 15.08 percent more compared to 2022. On the other hand, expenditures amounted to one billion and 641 million KM, i.e. they grew by 18.56 percent compared to 2022,” Milić said, reports Srna.

According to him, the total missing funds provided from the budget, in accordance with the Law on PIO, amount to 279,000,000 KM, which is 41.62 percent more than in 2022, when 197,000,000 KM were missing.

Milić said that they ended the year 2023 with 282,500 beneficiaries, that the average independent pension was 540,50 KM and that it was bigger for 17.33 percent compared to the year before.

The average pension for 40 and more years of service in 2023 was 808 KM and is higher by 14.7 percent compared to 2022, and the lowest pension for 40 and more years of service was 550 KM and is higher by 13.5 percent. in relation to the pension in 2022.

When it comes to expenses, Milić stated that KM 88.7 million was related to the settlement of all five levels of the lowest pension, that is, the guaranteed pension. At the end of last year, there were 73,000 such users, Milić added.

He indicated that the percentage of old-age pensions is increasing in the structure of rights, which at the end of last year was 62.17 and is higher by 1.17 percent compared to the end of 2022.

He added that among the 29,000 requests for exercising the right to a pension, there is a recalculation of the pension for users who applied for insurance in 2022.

“Compared to the year 2022, a growth of even 16.5 percent more of these requests was recorded,” said Milić and added that the key reason is that a large number of insured persons who were between 30-35 and 40 years old in the past Defense and Patriotic War now meet the conditions for exercising the right to an old-age pension.

He also stated that on December 31, they had some kind of work engagement 8,053 pensionersbeneficiaries of the right to old age or disability pension who were registered for mandatory insurance based on the PIO Act and for whom PIO contributions were paid.

When it comes to resolving rights from foreign insurance holders, Milić stated that they require a total of 1,836 seniority certificates, of which 649 relate to the condition for further action when it comes to the PIO Fund.
