“House of the Dragon” star Milly Alcock (23) has secured the role of Supergirl, it has now been announced. According to US media reports, the actress could make her debut in the film “Superman: Legacy” next year.
“It’s true. Welcome to the DCU, Milly Alcock!”, confirmed James Gunn (57), co-head of DC Studios, the new addition to social media on Monday (January 29). Alcock will also play the lead role in the planned film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” play. And in the Superman film with stars like David Corenswet (30) as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan (33), known from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, as Lois Lane and Hollywood star Nicholas Hoult (34) as Lex Luthor

Milly Alcock comes from Australia and celebrated her breakthrough with the series “House of the Dragon”one “Game of Thrones“-Spin off. She played a younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first five episodes of the first season. “Milly is a fantastically talented young actress and I’m incredibly excited that she’s joining the DCU,” James Gunn said in another post. “I first became aware of her on ‘House of the Dragon,’ but her diverse auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl blew me away.”
The new Supergirlversion is apparently intended to be in contrast to its cousin Superman, as Gunn explained according to “The Hollywood Reporter” at the end of January 2023: “We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth in his childhood and raised by loving parents, and “Supergirl.” The character “grew up on a rock, a shard of Krypton” and “saw everyone around her die and be killed in horrific ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth.”
