Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo also hopes that Mahfud’s steps can be an example for other presidential election participants.

“This is a good example and is a form of accountability, perhaps others can follow,” said Ganjar in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, Wednesday (31/1/2024).

Ganjar asked other parties who have conflicts of interest in the 2024 presidential election to withdraw. Ganjar also praised Mahfud’s integrity.

“Including anyone like I said from the start. Those who have it conflict of interest, it’s best to step down like Mr. Mahfud. “I once again respect Mr Mahfud, you have great integrity,” he said.

Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan also opened his voice regarding Mahfud’s decision to resign from his position. Anies admitted that he respected Mahfud’s decision.

“Today we are grateful to have received great support in Madura, so we are grateful for that and when it comes to Pak Mahfud we respect his decision,” said Anies to journalists on the sidelines of the campaign in Pamekasan, East Java, Wednesday (31/1/2024).

When asked whether Mahfud’s resignation should be followed by other ministers running for office, Anies only answered about ethics.

“From the start, we said that ethics must be upheld, this country can run well if its leaders uphold ethics, respect the rules of the game, and that is what we hope will continue to be implemented,” said Anies.

A response also came from presidential candidate number 2 who is also Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto. Prabowo only said that Mahfud’s decision was a political right.

“That’s a political right,” said Prabowo after attending an event entitled ‘Trimegah Political and Economic Outlook 2024’ at the Grand Ballroom, The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, South Jakarta, Wednesday (31/1/2024).

Meanwhile, President Jokowi emphasized that his current cabinet is solid. Jokowi respects Mahfud’s decision to prepare a resignation letter. Even so, Jokowi has not received an official report to date.

“Very solid,” said Jokowi in his press statement, during his working visit, in Klaten, Central Java, Wednesday (31/1/2024).

“That’s a right and I really appreciate it. Until now I haven’t received a report,” he added.

Mahfud’s move to resign from office received praise from his coalition parties. PPP Secretary General Arwani Thomafi assessed that Mahfud could set a positive precedent in governance, and this should be followed by other candidates.

“Mr Mahfud’s resignation provides a positive precedent for government governance. Prof Mahfud is a good example in maintaining ethics in the midst of an ethical crisis,” said Arwani in a written statement, Wednesday (31/1/2024).

On the other hand, the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) advised Prabowo Subianto not to resign from his position as Minister of Defense. TKN also ensures that there will be no conflict of interest during the presidential election.

“Today we received news that he was resigning from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, of course that is his personal right. We fully respect this decision and furthermore, the government will continue to run as usual,” said Deputy Chairman of TKN Ahmad Muzani, Wednesday (31/1/2024) .
