While Fribourg-Gottéron will begin its play-offs on Saturday evening against Lugano, the Saint-Léonard club announced on Tuesday the extension of its young defender Maximilian Streule for two seasons. The 20-year-old from Zurich will therefore be a Dragon until at least June 2027. His new contract also includes an optional additional year.

Arriving last summer on the banks of the Sarine, Maximilien Streule played 46 matches with Gottéron and scored 5 points (3 goals and 2 assists) this season. “After a period of adaptation, Maximilian has progressed a lot and has become an important part of our rearguard. His physical impact and determination are two major assets for our defense. We are convinced that he still has plenty of room for improvement,” explains Gerd Zenhäusern, the Friborg sports director, in the club press release.
