Lorentzen states in the same post on Instagram that he and partner Hege Bøkko are expecting their second child in September.

– There comes a time for everything. WC sprint in Inzell will be my last dance. Thanks to everyone who has helped and cheered me on. Hope I have inspired and spread joy. Now I’m looking forward to being more with my girls, he writes.

Lorentzen took gold in the 500 meters and silver in the 1,000 meters during the Olympics in South Korea in 2018. Four years later, he won bronze in the Beijing Olympics in the 1,000 meters.

He is also world sprint champion in 2018. There has also been silver and bronze in the sprint WC.

Lorentzen already distinguished himself as a junior in 2012. Then he came second in the Junior WC behind the Russian Pavel Kuliznikov. He took his first podium place in the World Cup in 2017. Then he came third in the 1000 meters in Berlin.
