Idzes and Venezia narrowly lost to Reggiana in Week 31 of Serie B

Congratulations to Reggiana but we should use this defeat as a lesson

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian national team player Jay Idzes failed to give his team Venice a win after losing narrowly with a score of 2-3 against Reggiana at home, at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium, Monday (1/4).

Playing in front of their own supporters, Venezia took a two-goal lead through Gianluca Busio (20′) and Joel Pohjanpalo (33′). However, after the two goals, Venezia’s game dropped.

Manolo Portanova’s header (45+1′) reduced the score for Reggiana at the end of the first half before Giorgio Altare’s own goal (50′) and Edoardo Pieragnolo’s goal (65′) brought the team coached by AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta home with three points.

After the match, Venice coach Paolo Vanoli said that a team that was two goals behind should not be given a ‘breath’ to recover.

He said that he would use this defeat as a lesson in the remaining Serie B matches, which now have seven matches remaining.

“Congratulations to Reggiana but we should use this defeat as a lesson,” said Vanoli, as reported on the club’s official website, Tuesday.

“You can take and learn from positive and negative things. I don’t despair over defeats and rejoice over big wins,” he continued.

“The players are very disappointed because they know what they are playing for, from here to the end there will be ups and downs and we have to be clever at handling them,” he added.

In this match, making his 19th appearance this season, Idzes was again trusted by Vaoli to appear fully in a three-back formation with Marin Sverko and Giorgio Altare.

The 23-year-old central defender performed quite solidly in that match with statistics of five sweeps, two blocked shots, two tackles, 87 touches, 72 passes with 92 percent accuracy, two successful long passes from three attempts, and two ground duels won from four opportunities.

This defeat made Venezia drop to third place in the standings with 57 points. I Leoni Alati’s position was shifted by the club owned by the Indonesian company Djarum Group, Como 1907, which is now one point ahead in second place after a 2-0 win over Sudtirol, at Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, Monday (1/4).

Next, Idzes and his friends will travel against a team in the Ascoli relegation zone on Sunday (7/4) at 22.15 WIB at the Cino e Lillo Del Duca Stadium.
