I came across the Post Office of the Future a year ago in Shiretoko, a remote location in northwest Japan, Hokkaid ?. In a corner of the hall of the ryokan where I was staying, there was a sort of sculpture in shades of white and blue that read: Mirai y? Binkyoku or “Post Office of the Future”.
It is a service created by Yoshiaki Kaihatsu, an artist who, in some areas of Japan and at certain times of the year, offers the possibility of sending a letter which will however be delivered after a whole year.
