(LaPresse) A wave of cold air from Siberia and the Arctic swept across western Russia, with temperatures in Moscow and other areas plummeting to -30 degrees, well below the average temperature in early January . According to meteorologists, such intense cold had not been recorded for over 80 years, in the middle of the Second World War. The frost did not scare the brave swimmers who jumped into the Neva river in St. Petersburg amidst snow and ice. (LaPresse)
