Venezuelan driver’s license: in which countries is it valid and can it be used?

In the case of Venezuelan people, if they plan to use it in different countries, they must take into account certain procedures to follow that guarantee its use without problems and prevent the driver from receiving a traffic fine. Can I drive with my Venezuelan license in Colombia?
If a Venezuelan citizen wishes to drive a private vehicle in Colombia, and entered the country by stamping his passport, he has a period of six months to use his Venezuelan driving license. If he exceeds this allowed time, he may receive a fine equivalent to 30 days of minimum wage, which for 2024 is $1,300,000 (Colombian pesos).
In addition to this, you must remember that this rule does not allow you to drive a public transport, cargo, courier vehicle, among others, since for these you must obtain a Colombian driving license. Now, if you issue the Temporary Protection Permit (or PPT for its acronym), this document is considered valid to carry out procedures associated with transit, among many others, including applying for your Colombian driver’s license.
Can I put a vehicle in my name in Colombia as a Venezuelan?
Yes, this as long as foreign citizens are in a regular immigration situation and keep each of their documents in order. Remember that, under the rule, you can not only acquire, but also sell and transfer vehicles within Colombian territory without any problem.
