India, fire in a commercial building in New Delhi: at least 27 dead

At least 27 dead and several injured in India are the toll of a large fire that broke out in a 7-storey commercial building in the capital New Delhi, precisely in the Mundka area, in the west of the city. Dozens of people were rescued from the building, which mostly houses shops.

The Indian Press Trust of India reports that 12 people suffered burns in the fire and another 50 were evacuated. At the moment the cause of the fire is not clear.

The Indian Express newspaper reports that two owners of a security camera sales company have been detained for questioning as the fire allegedly started from their office; there was no immediate confirmation from the police.
