“While their peers were going to school regularly, these children were fighting for their lives. They were winning a difficult battle,” Beric told reporters in Banja Luka.

He pointed out that in this initiative the Association was guided by positive examples from Serbia and Croatia and that they were well understood by the competent institutions of Srpska.

“It is a difficult struggle for parents and sick children, but we are happy that since the foundation of the association ten years ago, we have encountered the open doors of institutions, media and individuals”, Beric said.

He pointed out that today the awareness of malignant diseases in children is far more developed than a few years ago, and he pointed out the importance of early detection of the disease, bearing in mind that in that case the percentage of cure is higher.

“The association tries to help sick children in various ways. At the Parent’s House in Banja Luka, there are currently six families whose children are being treated at the University Clinical Center of Srpska, and in eight years of operation, 193 children have passed through this house.” Beric said.

Representatives of the “Iskra” Association distributed promotional material today at Trg Krajine, on the occasion of marking the World Day of Children with Malignant Diseases.
