The course of the match Inter Milan Vs Genoa
Inter fielded their best squad with the duo Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez in attack. Armed with an unbeaten record from the last nine meetings, Inter put pressure on Genoa from the early minutes.
However, Inter struggled to find opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the match. Nicolo Barella got the first chance in the 24th minute. Receiving Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s cross at the far post, Barella immediately shot the ball, but it still flew over the bar.
Two minutes later, Inter almost conceded if Yann Sommer had not deftly parried Matteo Retegui’s header from close range. Johann Gudmundsson struck the rebound but went wide.
The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute when Asslani scored his first goal of the season. Sanchez, who saw Asllani’s movement into the penalty box, sent a through ball and Asslani immediately kicked it into the top corner of Josef Martinez’s goal.

Inter received a penalty in the 34th minute when Barella was fouled by Morten Frendrup in the forbidden box. The referee canceled the penalty before seeing VAR to change his decision.
The 12th kick was still awarded and Sanchez, who was the executor, successfully outwitted Martinez, to give Inter a 2-0 lead. The score lasted until halftime.

Entering the second half, Inter withdrew Denzel Dumfries who had been shown a yellow card and played Matteo Darmian. Genoa, who tried to get up, got a goal in the 54th minute.
Johan Vazquez keenly saw that Stefan de Vrij’s sweeping ball was less than perfect, and immediately fired a volley into the bottom right corner without Sommer being able to block it.
Genoa, who were excited because of the goal, put pressure on Inter, who were forced to defend more. In the 62nd minute, Genoa scored a goal through Vitinha, but it was disallowed because he was caught offside when receiving the pass.
The visitors got another chance in the 74th minute from Retegui’s header following Jad Spence’s cross, although it went wide.
The combination of two substitute players almost increased Inter’s lead in the 84th minute. Marcus Thuram gave a pass to the left side occupied by Carlos Augusto and was immediately shot, although it was blocked.
The 2-1 score lasted until the match ended and Inter became stronger at the top Serie A standings.
