In the seventh round of the Campeonato Gaúcho, Internacional beat São José, away from home, this Sunday (11). The winning goal was scored by Carlos De Pena, from a penalty, in the final stage. Inter played with reserves and had coach Eduardo Coudet sent off in the first half after arguing with the opponent’s commander.
With the result, Internacional took the lead over Gauchão, with 16 points. This is the same score as Grêmio, but Colorado’s arch-rival has the worst on goal difference: 8 to 7. The two teams, in fact, will face each other on the 25th, in the 10th round. São José, in turn, is ninth, with 7 points, outside the G8 and away from Z2.
The match was very lacking in emotions, also due to Internacional’s many reserves. Therefore, because they knew the pitch (synthetic, by the way), São Luiz were more effective, although Inter exchanged more passes. Colorado lacked better creative power.
The first big chance of the game, as expected, was from São José, after all, Marquinhos Calazans finished with some danger. In the next minute, Fredson sent a ball into the area, but Anthoni cleared it away. Inter managed to respond with Pedro Henrique, but with poor finishing.
At 31, Robert Renan hesitated in his marking, and the ball fell to Renê, who tried to cover Anthoni. However, the Inter goalkeeper managed to deflect the ball with a small touch. Two minutes later, the match was interrupted for around five minutes due to an unusual reason: a very heated argument between Eduardo Coudet and China Balbino. Thus, both coaches were expelled. Still in the first half, Renê had another good finish for São José.
Inter improves and secures victory
The second stage started in the same way: Internacional with more ball possession, but São Luiz with more shots. In one of them, Fredson caused danger to the home team. However, Colorado grew in the match with the arrivals of Thauan Lara, Bustos and Pedro Henrique. At 17, Gustavo Prado crossed into the area, Nonato got his hand on the ball. Penalty for Inter, which De Pena took and converted.
At 25, Bustos hesitated, and Matheuzinho shot at the post. Coudet’s assistant, Lucho Fernández reinforced Internacional, who managed to manage the result. However, Alessandro Vinicius had a good finish for Sã José. In stoppage time, Luiz Adriano was sent off.
