International Court of Justice, Russia does not appear at the hearing on war crimes and genocide allegations

The AJA – Russia did not attend today’s hearing before the International Court of Justice on the war in Ukraine. The proceeding that has begun examines Ukraine’s request to the UN Court to assess whether war crimes have been committed or whether genocide is underway in the country attacked by Moscow.

The Court – declared President Joan Donoghue – “deplores the failure of the Federation of Russia to participate in this oral procedure”, adding that the absence was notified by the Russian ambassador to the Netherlands, where the International Court is based.
