International Olympic Committee President Bach completes vaccination before his departure to Japan on July 8
China News Service, July 1st. On June 30, local time, the IOC website announced the itinerary of IOC President Bach’s visit to Japan. He will arrive in Japan on July 8 and will strictly abide by all the provisions of the Tokyo Olympics Epidemic Prevention Manual during his stay in Japan.
Bach said earlier that he hopes to visit Japan on May 17 or 18. In addition to meeting Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, he also plans to go to Hiroshima to participate in the Olympic torch relay. However, the plan was cancelled due to the worsening of the epidemic situation in Japan.
As the opening date of the Tokyo Olympics is approaching, Bach’s itinerary for Japan is finalized. The International Olympic Committee stated in a statement that Bach will complete the new crown pneumonia vaccination before departure and be isolated in a hotel for three days after arriving in Japan.
From July 12, Bach will begin to meet with the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee, participating delegations and other Olympic related people. On July 16, Bach will visit Hiroshima to participate in activities to commemorate the “Olympic Truce”.
In addition, Bach will also attend the IOC Executive Committee meeting from July 17th to 18th, and then preside over the 138th IOC Plenary Meeting on July 20th.
