The Italian director’s film was nominated among those on the list to win the statuette as best international film
In the list of films that in a few weeks could win the Oscar for best international film there is also «Io Capitano» by Matteo Garrone. The nomination arrived on January 23rd and now, in the days preceding the ceremony on March 24th, fans who were unable to see the film while it was in Italian theaters can catch up on streaming platforms. Competing for the Oscar for «Io Capitano» will be «Perfect Days» (Japan), «Society of the snow» (Spain), «The Teachers’ Lounge» (Germany), «The Zone of Interest» (Great Britain) .

The story of the film is that of the journey of two teenagers, Seydou (Seydou Sarr) and Moussa (Moustapha Fall) who embark on a journey from Africa to Europe. A journey that leads them to encounter a thousand difficulties, abuses and violence from those who will accompany them between the desert and the open sea. «I Captain» was presented at80th Venice Film Festival , where the protagonist, Seydou Sarr, won the Marcello Mastroianni award. The film was included among the best international films of the latest Golden Globe Awards.
