He suddenly appeared among pop stars like Howard Carpendale and Michelle: satirist Jan Böhmermann sang together with Giovanni Zarrella on his ZDF show. What the performance is all about.

Disco medley, homage to Udo Jürgens and appearances by stars like Maite Kelly, Howard Carpendale and Michelle: Giovanni Zarrella again had a lot to offer in his ZDF show on Saturday evening. At the end of the show, however, there was a performance that may have surprised some viewers. satirist Jan Böhmermann entered the stage in a light green outfit. The 43-year-old also wore glued-on eyelashes and heavily made-up eyes. “I came today in my private clothes. I thought I would bring a human-sized pistachio tartufo to celebrate the day,” joked Böhmermann.

Together with Zarrella he gave the Prince hit “Kiss” and the Italian national anthem to the best. Böhmermann proved that he can keep up vocally. He has sung repeatedly in his show “ZDF Magazin Royale” in recent years. At the beginning of 2023 he went on tour with the Ehrenfeld Radio Dance Orchestra and was on stage at a concert with Herbert Grönemeyer. Böhmermann also released the song “Allemagne Zero Points” around a year ago, making fun of Germany’s traditionally poor performance at the ESC.

The entertainer posted several photos of his performance on Instagram and commented: “Finally normal people: Giovanni Zarrella asked me to do a duet and it’s an honor to do it fearlessly and with your back straight. Every now and then you have to change your cards mixing in show business!”

Apparently Böhmermann also wanted to use the campaign to advertise his upcoming tour: at the beginning of 2025 he will go on a concert tour again with the Ehrenfeld Radio Dance Orchestra and play in 13 German cities as well as in Zurich and Vienna. “If we can attract just one Saturday night hit viewer to ‘Eisern Ehrenfeld’ in January 2025, then the effort will have been worth it!” he wrote.

His green costume also went well with the ESC, which is taking place next weekend in Malmö, Sweden. Böhmermann will comment on the music event for the second time with his podcast partner Olli Schulz for the Austrian radio station FM4. Both are scheduled to appear on the radio and in the video stream on fm4.ORF.at on May 11th. Böhmermann emphasized: “My respect to all commentators. To be honest, we don’t want to compete with you. It’s more of a kind of accompanying program.”
